One of the new sections of the Scout Law is "A Scout is leading the way and taking responsibility." This says a background document for this section. Scouts should take responsibility in society - it beats both unions stuck in their mission statement, and it is clearly established in international scouting. Today's scouts highlights that value in several paragraphs. We want to collect this in a statement. One could make a statement that simply says that "a scout take responsibility," but we want to produce active in the scouts will also chair - they will show the way. This is also a paragraph that summarizes much of the core of scout work, and we therefore look like a natural conclusion of the Scout Law. The entire proposal can be found here! Word Study Summer 2013 "Taking responsibility" was the survey set against a number of other words, to hear what today's Scouts think about this text. The results showed that the word responsibility (in different forms) was something scouts wanted: Percentage who chose "Taking responsibility" when we set up the following words: Responsible: 41% Capital: 68% Going ahead: 84% Feedback: 91% There were a total of 233 scouts were asked, "Taking responsibility". The word "Wizard" was also set against a variety of other words. We see clearly that the word responsible is more chosen than the "director": Percentage who chose "Wizard" when we put up the words: Taking responsibility: 9% Responsible: 16% Capital: 17% That you dare: 38% Courageous 48 % Taking the lead: 69% Courageous 74% There were a total of 336 scouts who were asked about the "Wizard".
Hey - the phrase "leading the way" I like well. The I perceive payless as a stronger and more active formulation of "taking responsibility". To show the way is more understandable and can be specified in pointing out the direction we want scouting to proceed. Very good! JanPetter Bergan Reply Delete
