It's not often we jump for joy! Often when we are happy, we as adults have learned a body language that does not involve jumping up and down with joy. But when we do, it's really a spontaneous act which in its nakedness shows exactly how we feel. This can not rehearse. Skuttet comes in the moment! In the third chapter of Acts, we read about a grown man jumping for joy. The reason is that he was cured of his lifelong lameness parker and hence the trying situation in which it must have meant to gain their livelihood by begging! Wonder he was happy. He not only jumped up, but then he followed the apostles into the temple, "and he went and jumped and praised God." So happy - so relieved! And even today, we are pleased with that man when we read about how he was cured - by a word from the Lord. While in Lystra (Acts 14), we can see a man who had been lame since birth and that jumps up when he gets healed. And even where we understand the man and his joy. Not hard to understand that someone who has never been able to go and then suddenly can go jump starts. We also see in Malachi promises that we'll get rejoice and leap for joy! Malachi 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings. Then you will come out and jump like calves released from their stalls. Where I grew up, in the village of Malt Swamp in Västerbotten County, we had a small farm with two - three cows and sometimes one or two calves, and although there were so few who were out to summer, I remember how wild and crazy cows and calves were. What a life! We got to keep us out of the way when they came rushing out! How happy they were, they could not communicate but we saw how giddy they were in their freedom! But then there's one place where the Lord mentions that we should jump for joy, and that word is not as easy to understand as the other words. Luke 6:22-24 Blessed are you when people hate you and repels parker you, when they mock and dirt throwing you, all, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice in that day, yes, jump for joy! For, look for your reward is great in heaven. In the same way did your fathers with the prophets. Sure, we know that we can endure contempt and persecution, and certainly we know that we will share Christ's suffering and certainly we have heard that we should be patient and turn the other cheek, and ... But this! The middle of this difficult rejoice, and not only rejoice quietly and unobtrusively but with cheer and hope. We'll jump for joy when we are reviled! Hallelujah! What wisdom in the words of the Lord. Help us, Lord, when we are in that situation parker - remember this word, bring it to us, and jump for joy!
