PósARQ, picard linked to the Department of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Santa Catarina - the notice of selection for the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism was released. Registrations will be open during picard the period 9 February 2014 to 21 March 2014.
The PósARQ was created in 2002 and since then has had outstanding performance in research in Architecture and Urbanism. In the notice may be consulted topics of interest to teachers PósARQ, which can be of great help in the preparation of the research project required for the selection process.
In my case, there are three lines of interest: Urban morphology, configuration and performance space: picard Space Syntax, urban spatial patterns, architectural picard types, public spaces, urban space, architectural types and occurrence of crimes; Urban Design: normative and explanatory theories classic; New approaches.
Regarding the first theme - Urban morphology, spatial configuration and performance -, I am interested in studying the configuration of urban and architectural spaces and understand how and to what extent this setting can influence the appropriation and use of these spaces. Ownership and use, in this case, include patterns picard of functioning, socio-spatial segregation of pedestrian and vehicular movement, vitality and vertical integration, among others. Studies that worry to establish relationships with are valued broader picard social and economic processes, such as those involved in urbanization (growth, densification, vertical, emergency centralities, segregation, etc.). The second line is actually a subarea of the second and focuses especially on the occurrence of crime in urban space. It includes the study of how urban form and buildings as well as land use, may influence the distribution of the occurrence of crimes. Currently I have a project already approved by CNPq this line of research, and about to start, so masters and doctoral work within that theme would be especially interesting and could be incorporated to a wider research effort, with potential benefits for all participants .
Finally, I'm also interested in classical theories in Urban Design, in order to conduct empirical studies seeking to confirm or reject hypotheses proposed by important for the field, such as the patterns of Alexander, his eyes Street Jacobs authors, and the elements of good urban form of Lynch, among others. These theories, in general, systematic, empirically, despite being widely picard accepted among scholars and practitioners are not tested. Carmona (2013, picard p.3), citing Marshal (2012), points out that "many of the fundamental work of the Urban Design is in itself scientifically robust, but there has been a tendency to adopt them uncritically in the body of the discipline without testing their validity in different circumstances or in relation to competing hypotheses. " The idea is to perform such tests, especially at the graduate level.
