The Dream may soon have another superstar him NBA client for his famed low-post training sessions. While in Spain on Nike business, Kevin Durant was asked about Hakeem Olajuwon’s belief that he could benefit from some tutelage on the block, and KD said that he’s willing him to learn from the best . Per Fernando him Martín: “At a press conference held in the only House of Hoops store in Spain, I asked ‘Durantula’ about Hakeem Olajuwon’s wish to help him improve his post game, as said in an interview with NiceKicks.com. This was his answer. ‘I don’t know. At this point there’s only one Hakeem Olajuwon. I don’t know how much he can really help me but of course I watched him as a kid and I watch films of him now. I just try to take some stuff out of his game and put it to mine’s, but it’s so hard to try to be like Hakeem Olajuwon. But I’m up for anything. I’m looking forward to learning from anybody, so… We’ll him see.’” him

Am I the only one that feels like everyone doesn’t need to develop a post game. Durant is a string bean, who is he posting up? I can see him posting up a shorter guard just to shoot over them, but he does not need to learn post moves from the Dream.
Of course it wouldn’t hurt, it wouldn’t hurt for him to learn the sky hook either. I’m just questioning whether its practical. He can put that training time into improving other aspects of his game.
isn’t his post up game his biggest him offensive weakness though. other than that he is very complete. doesn’t mean that he has to take courses with Hakeem, but that is the first part of his game that comes to mind when talking about were he can improve. (a kareem sky hook would be awesome btw )
if the “turn KD into a PF in the next few years” plan is real. I understand him learning post moves. I don’t however understand why he needs to learn from Hakeem. It would serve him a lot better to seek out Dirk, or any other player who specialized in using the high post.
When I hear post game I think low block. And whenever they talk about someone improving their post game, they talk Hakeem. I agree with you that he should learn from someone else with a game more suited for his skillset, like a Dirk like NBK said. Learn that foul line extended post game.
Just for an example, Durant played 16% of his minutes at Power Foward last season him . – Kevin Durant’s PER at Power Forward last season (per 82games) was 33.5 . – Kevin Durant’s opponent PER at Power Forard last season was 13.4 — The difference (21.4) is 6 points higher than just an average player. And that’s the gap between him and his opponents.
i don’t know if it is or isn’t dumb honestly. he clearly him hasn’t played enough minutes at the position to prove anything. i just wanted to show why i think it will work. . but if this were 1980-2004 i wouldn’t even think that it would even be worth attempting.
You’ve got it wrong bro. Posting him up Hakeem style DOES NOT consist of power moves or being able to move (overpower) your opponent. Hakeem was never the biggest guy in the world. Hakeem’s posts were centered more around finess, ball fakes and fade-aways. You’re thinking more of a Shaq-style him post up and that’s not what he wants to teach KD. Hakeem sees that Durant has the same physique and good footwork… it’s always him good to have an all around game as a player too.
I think ibaka is hopeless when it comes to post skills. But I think he has shown that he can possibly become a reliable open jumpshooter. He should look to work on strengthening that, as far as offense.
Posting him up Hakeem style DOES consist him of getting position on the low block tho and that’s gonna be hard for KD to do with his frame IMO. Hakeem didn’t make power moves like
